Project 3
Ways of Inhabiting – Experiencing Architecture (Space and Sensory)

The final project will be explored in three stages. First, the models from Project 1 will be re-explored and re-examined to develop a spatial narrative. Second, this spatial narrative will be translated into an architectural journey of path, portal, and place, with the sequence determined by the narrative. Lastly, the sensorial experience of the "path-portal-place" will be developed by incorporating design principles, structure, materiality, anthropometry, ergonomics, and architectural narrative through multiple test models and drawings.

Reflection

As an architecture student who loves creating narratives inspired by real life, poetry, and my surroundings, this assignment has been valuable.

Revisiting my models from Project 1 helped me dive deeper into spatial narratives and turn them into meaningful architectural journeys.
Working on the sensory space concept model for my grandma with dementia was especially impactful, making me think more empathetically and design more thoughtfully. This assignment really boosted my drawing and modeling skills, pushing me to try out different materials and techniques. I faced some obstacles, like refining the spatial composition and making sure the design principles matched my narrative, but overcoming these challenges made me a more responsible and skilled designer.

This whole experience has deepened my appreciation for the power of empathy in architecture and the importance of creating spaces that truly support and resonate with the people who use them.
